Le Rose Bride- Kim

What is your name?

Kim Dawes

Wedding date and location?

4th October 2019. Bowral, Southern Highlands.

How did he propose?

We woke up early to watch the sunrise at Shelley beach in manly one morning and he pulled me over to the cliff to “check out the surf” (I know nothing about the surf) and he proposed. He was so nervous that he snapped the box when we opened it. We had a friend in the bushes taking photos!

What was your goal for your wedding / what was the most important aspect to you?

I really wanted to be present and just enjoy the day. There was so much involved planning, we did everything in 6 months and I’m a wedding videographer so I had been to so many weddings and I had this perfect vision. But on the day I really just wanted to enjoy all our family being together, which had never happened before, and really focus on Max (my husband) and just admire our vision coming true.

How did you choose Le Rose for your wedding robes?

My bridesmaids had known about Le Rose for a while and gifted me the robe for my hens. I wear it around the house now!

What did you like the most about your Le Rose Robes?

My robe was very classy which suited our theme for the whole day. It was very comfortable and not to mention so beautiful.

Were there funny moments from the day?

Well, maybe not so funny.. but the night before my wedding I tried on my dress (it was being made from a designer in Canberra and I was there a few days earlier for my final fitting but I hadn’t tried it on finished yet) and it didn’t fit! Not even my leg would fit in! So at 11:30pm the night before my wedding we had to drive 2.5 hours from Bowral to Canberra to my dress maker who then look until 3am to fix it (as I slept on her floor). We got back to Bowral at 5am and then up at 7am to start getting ready. I was exhausted!

What was your favourite moment while getting ready in your Le Rose robes?

I loved all of us matching in our robes the morning of my wedding. The girls got dressed before me and seeing all my bridesmaids in their bridesmaids dresses exceeded all expectations and seeing them all done up, other than marrying my husband, was one of my favourite moments.

What wisdom or advice can you share to other Le Rose Brides?

It really is true that the day goes by so fast and you have to try and be really present. The day can be so overwhelming and it can also be really hard to say hello or speak to every guest, which can add a lot of pressure. So I would really recommend going with the flow and enjoying time with people as you go..but don’t pressure yourself to speak to everyone! Enjoy your day and being with your husband, your guests will understand.
